LIVERPOOL BEATLE WEEK

Saturday 25 August 2001

Concerts at
The Cavern
Chavasse Park
Royal Court Theatre
The Adelphi
and more.

A short visit to LIPA and the Beatles auction there. (If you want to see any pictures, take look at the 2000 Beatle Week.) Then we took a walk down to CAVERN WALKS...

Doubleway's Beatles statue

The stylish CAVERN WALKS complex at Mathew Street opened in 1984. There you can find this full-sized statue made by JOHN DOUBLEWAY.

DOOLEY STATUE, Mathew Street.
This controversial statue by local sculptor ARTHUR DOOLEY was erected in 1974 and was the first to symbolise the relation between The Beatles and the rest of the world. A guitar-carrying cherub(!) complete with a 'Lennon Lives' halo was added in 1980 following JOHN's murder. (Phew!) The statue was renovated by Cavern City Tours in 1995.

We went down into the BEATLES SHOP at Mathew Street, where I bought these beautiful stickers for Peter's parachute-helmet.

Time to go down into THE CAVERN....

Liverpool

LIVERPOOL. It was wonderful to see this excellent group from Norrköping, Sweden in the place where they belong - THE CAVERN! This band played really good! OLLE NILSSON's excellent voice made wonders in 'Dr Robert' and 'I'm Losing You', just to mention a few. LENNART KÅGE's guitar-solos in 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' gave me shivers down my spine! And with RONNIE ROOS' bass and KENT SZWONDER's drums they get a really solid beat. Liverpool also contributed this year in the recording-sessions at Abbey Road Studio 2 - The Beatles' studio.
A memory of a lifetime, believe me!

We run to the Rock'n'Roll Cirkus in CHAVASSE PARK...

The Fab Faux

Welcome back to Liverpool, THE FAB FAUX!! This was the most longed-for concert since their succesful concerts in 2000, when they totally blew us away! We all love you - the BEST Beatle Tribute Band in Universe! A brilliant concert!

Back to the

Tonight the bands played some of THE BEATLES' most  memorable concerts...

Hard Night's Day

HARD NIGHT'S DAY performed the Hamburg and Cavern days with lots of feeling and joy. What a great band! They really 'yell'! And all are excellent singers!

Australian Beatals

AUSTRALIAN BEATALS made a great performance of one of the most memorable Beatles concerts of them all - Hollywood Bowl.

The Overtures

THE OVERTURES returned to Royal Court to perform The Beatles' last concert - The Rooftop Concert from January 1969. And what a great version we got!!! I've Got A FEEELING!!!

Back to THE ADELPHI...

It's Party with Clone Farm at the stage!

CLONE FARM from North Carolina performed several of their Beatlesque original songs. And they sounded good!

HARD NIGHT'S DAY made another excellent concert tonight. Was it their third for today?! The singer in the picture is my top favourite!  Do you know his name?
