LIVERPOOL BEATLE WEEK Sunday 25 August 2002 The Beatle Convention
at The Adelphi.
A new truly magnificent
book:
Time to get my book signed...
A fantastic book! Beautiful images and wonderful text written with much warmth and love to Mona Best - their mother and founder of The Casbah Coffee Club - the birthplace of The Beatles. More great music at The Adelphi Main Stage...
THE FLYING POSTMEN again. You were one of our true favourites! Time for an interesting interview...
Brothers ROUG BEST and PETE BEST had lots of interesting storys to tell. Roug told us about their new book 'The Beatles - The True Beginnings' and the re-opening of the Casbah Coffee Club the day before. Pete had lots of memories from his mother Mona and The Casbah Club. And also from his Beatles days off course. We rush to THE CAVERN...
And here are the wonderful guests...
LENNY PANE at The Cavern - magic! This was the first time we saw them there. A sweaty but wonderful venue! Electric to stand there in the middle of the crowd - all singing along! PETER was flying high up in the sky - so happy!
Back to THE ADELPHI...
RINGER from Scotland - a wonderful band. This band could play really beautiful. Lots of '65 Beatle hits. And also, two wonderful Beach Boys songs with outstanding harmonies. Time for another interview...
LOUISE HARRISON had come all the way from America to visit this year's Convention. A warm and generous person who had a lot to tell about brother George during the Beatle years in the 60's and later. The interview was led by the world's leading Beatle author MARK LEWISOHN. His books 'The Complete Beatles Recording Sessions' and 'The Complete Beatles Chronichle' are the best Beatle books you can buy. More music at The Adelphi Main Stage...
LIVERPOOL played the '67 Beatle hits. 'Sgt Pepper's'! Great!
CLUBE
BIG BEATLES played the '68 songs. Lots of 'White
Album' tracks.
LENNY PANE with friends Stefan and Peter played most of the '69 Beatle hits and more. 'Something' and 'I've Got A Feeling'... Wow!
AMERICAN ENGLISH was once again presented by former Beatle promotor Sam Leich and George's sister Louise Harrison. The music was introduced as 'the Beatles album The Beatles never made'. That meant we could enjoy a concert of The Fab's 1970 solo hits .
No Unplugged Festival for us this year unfortunately. Had go up early next morning for the George Harrison Tour. Photos and text by Bengt Wärmlind
