LIVERPOOL BEATLE WEEK Tuesday 26 August 2003 A tour on the River
Mersey. We board 'The Most Famous Ferry In The World'...
The world-famous Liverpool Skyline is easily seen from the Mersey ferries. To the left is the Liver Building, and to the right the Anglican Cathedral. We go the Cavern Pub...
BRITISH EXPORT from Illinois, USA made great success with the the girls and ladies. I'm talking about screems! Members are Paul Lynch as Paul, John Graham as John , Jim Martin as Ringo and Gavin Pring as George. Yes, the same Gavin that so succesful played with George Harry's Son in Chavasse Park on Saturday. Here he's to the right. We return to Cavern Back....
62 again. This American band from Wyoming gave us some lesser-known tunes like 'Leave My Kitten Alone'. This song was the bootleg favourite number one, before it was released on the 'Anthology 1' in 1995. Sounded excellent tonight! Have never heard it at Beatle Weeks before! Time for this night's main events...
JACKIE LOMAX. Unbelievable that we one day should been able to see you perform live! 'Sour Milk Sea', penned and produced by George Harrison, has been my favourite since 1968. And in 1969 Jackie released the fantastic album 'Is This What You Want?' also produced by George. And what happened this night? First we got several songs from this classic album, wonderfully performed by Jackie supported by the American band Wonderwall. Shivers down the spine! (This rare album has been my favourite since I found it in a secondhand CD-shop earlier this year!) And later we got several great blues number from Jackie's latest album 'The Ballad Of Liverpool Slim'. Thank you, Jackie! Another legend...
TONY SHERIDAN. Yes, the same man as on The Beates' first Polydor single 'My Bonnie'! Supported by two South American musicians we got 'Alright Now', 'Hallelujah I Love You So', 'Yesterday'(!) and more. We rushed over to Cavern Front for our favourites...
ROCKS OFF! Yesterday they played for a huge 10,000 audience at Dale Street! And tonight we were a priviliged little croud that enjoyed their last '03 Liverpool gig at this classic little venue. And what a show we got! Lots of 60's classics like 'Honky Tonk Women', 'It's All Over Now', 'The Last Time', 'Paint It Black', 'Get Off Of My Cloud' (AWESOME!!!), 'Brown Sugar', 'Jumpin' Jack Flash' and 'Satisfaction'. wowWowWOW!!!
