LIVERPOOL BEATLE WEEK Saturday 26 August 2006 Mathew Street
Music Festival. Pier Head.
We go to the Pierhead Stage...
THE HAMSTERS. Voted the UK's best blues-rock band, from Hendrix to ZZ Top. And yes! Their version of ZZ Top's 'Sharp Dressed Lady' was just awesome! Time for a real Merseybeat Legend now...
GERRY & THE PACEMAKERS. One of the Mathew Street Music Festival highlights! Gerry and the band was in good form, presenting all his classics with lots of humour. 'How Do You Do It', 'I Like It', 'Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying', 'You'll Never Walk Alone', 'Ferry Cross The Mersey'... The list is long. What a great, and generous, show we got! World-famous stars now...
THE PROCLAIMERS. After top reviews at the Glastonbury Festival, twins CRAIG & CHARLIE REID from Edinburgh gave an outstanding show with many of their hits and other beautiful songs. Fantastic songs, great Scottish vocals and harmonies! And the sound-quality from the PA system was very good this afternoon at Pier head. Book-signing at the Tourist Center at Whitechapel now...
MIKE McCARTNEY. Not only being Paul's brother, but also an outstanding photographer. Today we got the chance to buy a signed copy of his latest (1000 copies, limited edition) book 'Mike McCartney's Live8 Cool Pix' including Mike's beautiful, personal pictures from the Live8 concert at Hyde Park, London, July 2nd 2005. Cavern Back wasn't far away. One more of our favourites - THE PRELLIES!!
THE PRELLIES. This was rock!-Rock!!-ROCK!!!-N-ROLL!!! Hamburg style! Wow! Back to the second show at the Liverpool Empire...
Another great lineup - Donovan!
Another great show at the Liverpool Empire with THE QUARRYMEN and TONY SHERIDAN. The real highlight was DONOVAN playing many of his famous songs. Plus telling many stories about his time together with the Beatles in India and other places. Very interesting for all us Beatle fans. Thank you ever so much for your generosity, Donovan! Again, no chance for me to present any pictures, sitting there on 8th row with my little camera. Well, here's one...
No problems with the Adelphi fire anymore. So now waited a long, wonderful night in the Adelphi bars. We started at Crompton's Bar and ROCKS OFF!!
ROCKS OFF!!! For the first time ever, the band played a stunning version of 'Midnight Rambler'. Magic! Another outstanding gig!
BILL HECKLE, the great CCT boss, jumped up the stage and joined Tony for a true classic. Also praised the band and let them play some extra songs as compensation for last night's cancelled Adelphi Bars gigs. Very generous of you, Bill! You're a true music fan!
We go over to a rock'n'roll party at Fridays Bar...
BEATWEEN. This band, from Moscow, played hard-core rock'n'roll, sweaty Cavern, Hamburg style, with great success. Time for some great Stones music again - ROCKS OFF!!
The crowd went wild...
ROCKS OFF, again! A completely different show than two hours ago! And how good they were! Unbelievable! Late now. Time for a few hours of sleep...
