LIVERPOOL BEATLE WEEK Sunday 27 August 2006 Beatles Convention at
The Adelphi. Convention Day at The Adelphi! We started in the Exhibition Room...
SHANNON is the amazing artist who's got the job to decorate the forthcoming Hard Days Night Hotel at North John Street. This will be something extra! Time for music now, we go to the American Bar...
FRANK
AGNELLO. Member of the world's best Beatle Tribute Band - Still early, but time now
for the VERY BEST gig this year!
SEE THE AMIZING VIDEO! 'Sweet Virginia' (4.4 MB)
SEE THE AMAZING VIDEO! 'Angie' (5.5 MB)
Now, don't miss this classic - country style... SEE THE AMAZING VIDEO! 'Country Honk' (4.2 MB) ROCK OFF again! (No, we didn't miss any of their seven Liverpool gigs!) Only 1 pm and a great lazy afternoon gig filled with soft country and blues songs: 'Sweet Virginia', 'Angie', 'As Tears Go By', 'Wild Horses', 'Country Honk', 'Little Red Rooster' and many more. A most memorable gig! The BEST EVER we've seen by the band! Time for a most interesting interview...
DONOVAN gave a very interesting and generous interview. Told a lot about his life and music. Also many stories with his time together with The Beatles in England and India. He also performed 'Hurdy Gurdy Man' - with an extra verse! MARK LEWISOHN made his second year as interviewer at Beatle Week. With all his knowledge about The Beatles, being the world's leading Beatles book author, the interviews turned out fantastic. And the artists seemed to open their hearts so easily. Many thanks, Mark! Time for a signing party now...
A great chance to buy a signed copy of DONOVAN's book 'The Hurdy Gurdy Man' and his latest CD, 'Beat Café' etc.
A magic meeting! DONOVAN was a very nice and person to meet. Both at the fantastic performance at the Liverpool Empire the night before. And also during the interview half an our before this signing. He also very kindly took his time to dedicate the book to me and pose for this (and many, many more similar) pictures. The queue to the signing was more than 100 meters long! Thanks for your generosity, Donovan!
We rush down to Pier Head and another of our top favourite bands...
GOD SAVE THE QUEEN or DIOS SALVE A LA REINA (as they are called home in Argentina) are the the world's leading Queen Tribute Band. Fantastic to have them here in Liverpool again! To stand in the crowd singing along in 'Bohemian Rhapsody' and 'We Are The Champions', where EVERYONE knew every single word, is unforgettable! Back to the Adelphi and Crompton's Bar...
MERSEY BEAT LEGENDS are a live tribute to the magical era of the 60s Mersey Beat. Not only playing music by the Fab Four but also Gerry & The Pacemakers, The Searchers (with great harmonies!), The Swinging Blue Jeans and many more. Back to Fridays Bar and another great band...
THE REPEATLES. Another fabulous gig with their great mixture of music from the 60s. Over to Crompton's Bar again and a nice meeting with our best friends...
The best Lennon Tribute band now...
INSTANT KARMA USA. The bar was crowded with people who wanted see this outstanding Lennon Tribute Band. No wonder, you cannot find any better in the whole world! (Not easy for me to get close to the stage to take this picture!) A long day! But not over yet! Time for the All Nighter at The Cavern hosted by THE PRELLIES...
A genuine knock-out now...
THE BEATBROTHERS. Did you think think the Who's version of 'My Generation' was the ultimate hard core ROCK? Well, that was before you had heard Phil's version. Wow! Great entertainment in the pauses...
DENNIS & JAMIE from The Overtures were a very pleasant surprise this night! Fantastic acoustic guitars and magic harmonies! Another outstanding band - THE FAB FIVE!!
THE FAB FIVE comes from Liverpool, New York, USA. A fantastic solid band! The instruments just 'yelled'. And the harmonies! The best in Liverpool this year! And they started with two of my top 60s favourites: Dave Clark Five's 'Glad All Over' and 'Shaking All Over' by The Swinging Blue Jeans. Fabulous! We'll meet again on Tuesday...
Nice to hear their great
own song 'Sandy Sunshine'.
