LIVERPOOL BEATLE WEEK Thursday 23 August 2007 Great music at the
Cavern Club and Cavern Pub.
Back in
Liverpool again - for the 10th successive time! Fantastic!
KARL LORNIE gave us a fantastic acoustic concert with many hits from the 60's. What a musician! We cross Mathew Street and go down to the world's most famous club...
THE CAVERN. No other club in the whole world has hosted so many world-famous artists! And this year it celebrated it's 50th Anniversary! Congratulations!
JAY MURRAY repeated last year's success with more great solo versions of the great music of the 60's. Familiar? Yes, he's also a member of The Mersybeatles.
JAN BRITTON OWEN. Back in Liverpool for his fourth consecutive year. One of the best singers and guitarists in Liverpool. A real nice lad from New York. We go back to The Cavern Pub...
MICK SCRILL. Another talented singer and guitar man. Back to The Cavern Front...
THE LADYBUGS. Nice to see this all-female band, all born and bred in Liverpool. And what a great Liverpudlian accent! Formed as late as in January 2007, and still this band gave a very entertaining a concert. We go to tonight's main events at the hot-Hot-HOT Cavern Back...
ELETRIKA BARBARELLA was created in 1999 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A new band in Liverpool, and one of our top favourites! Although The Beatles are their main influence, the band also played the best of rock'n'roll from the 60's and 70's with great success. The powerful voice of female singer Leticia Barbarella and the solid band was one of the highlights this year!
Time now for part 1 of the Traveling Wilburys Tribute...
SIR FRANKIE CRISP AND THE FRIARS from Italy were back after last year's success with their great music by my favourite Beatle - George Harrison! Tonight, a fine version of the classic album 'Traveling Wilburys Volume 1'. Don't miss the highlight below... SEE THE AMAZING VIDEO! 'Handle With Care' (2.1 MB) Time for another great band....
INSTANT KARMA. To hear singer Jay Goeppner's versions of John Lennon's music is nothing is but magic! This solid band from Chicago made their stunning Liverpool debut in 2005. And this year better than ever! One of the very top bands this year! Tonight, songs from the classic 'Plastic Ono Band' album. Don't miss the highlight below... SEE THE AMAZING VIDEO! 'Mother' (9.6 MB) Time now for part 2 of the Traveling Wilburys Tribute...
NUBE 9 (which means CLOUD 9). This great band from Argentina had rehearsed a lot! And Wow! How good they sounded! We got shivers down the spine! First a lot of songs from the 'Traveling Wilburys Volume 3' album. But then, they couldn't resist to play most of the Volume 1 album as well! 'Handle Of Care' was fantastic. And above you can see Estaban making a tremendous version of the Roy Orbison showpiece 'Not Alone Any More'. We go back to the Cavern Pub for more George music...
DENNY LAINE needs no introduction. He was the guy Paul McCartney joined up with for his first musical project following the break-up of The Beatles. Denny, Paul and Linda founded WINGS. Also Rocks Off Tony's favorite group, when he grew up as a kid. Denny will play on Tuesday at the Cavern Back.
MAD DOGS presented their exciting mix of Beatles songs performed in various styles from Blues to Rock to Pop and Jazz, all seasoned with a good splash of Brazilian humour. Outstanding!
