LIVERPOOL BEATLE WEEK Monday 27 August 2007 Music at The Carling
Academy and The Cavern. We start the day at...
INSTANT KARMA & THE REPEATLES. Two of the best bands at Beatle Week! (Very hard to take the photos above at The Carling Academy. The camera flash was reflected by the smoke-effects on the stage, making the photos pale white. But after some work at the computer I here above present a couple of pictures. Not so good, but anyway...) The smoke is gone...
ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE celebrates the music of The Beatles later albums from 'Rubber Soul' to 'Abbey Road'. Glistering guitar work, rich vocals, stunning keyboard orchestration and an unyielding rhythm section combined with an electrifying stage presence by singer Andy Forgie are the trademarks of this excellent Canadian band. We go down to the heat of the Cavern Back...
ELETRIKA BARBARELLA. Another great mix of the best music from the 60's and the 70's topped with Leticia's powerful voice. Wonderful!
INSTANT KARMA, so many great gigs! This one culminating with a set of the best from each John Lennon album. Wow! Time for tonight's Main Event. We go to the Liverpool Empire...
We take a closer look...
KARL TERRY & THE CRUISERS. Karl never found fame outside his beloved Liverpool, but people still flock to see his high-energy unique shows in the pubs around the region.. He famously played with The Beatles on many occasions, including Litherland Town Hall and, off course, The Cavern. (No more pictures of Karl, sorry! The naughty guards stopped us all photographers with great energy. I got three(!) BIG guards very near me, hoping to throw me out, if I had shot one more picture!) Next band...
THE
UNDERTAKERS were one of Merseyside's stronger and most and most
popular groups in the 60's, who counted The Beatles
among their fans. They gained a reputation locally as the best "
hard-rockers" along with The Beatles and The
Big Three. And believe me, they still sound great! (No photos of The Undertakers at The Empire at all, sorry! Now the guards had called for the Chief In Guard himself. They were all staring at me now, hoping for me to take a photo, so they could throw me out. I disappointed them, sparing my efforts for the later acts...) No guards in sight...
THE
FOURMOST. Looked after by The Beatles' manager Brian
Epstein the group recorded lots of records with the one and only George
Martin at EMI's world-famous Abbey Road Studios. Their hit 'Hello
Little Girl' was penned especially for them by their old friends John
Lennon and Paul McCartney!
We take a closer look...
MIKE
PENDER'S SEARCHERS. Last year Cavern City Tours presented The
Searchers with two original members, and this year they made no
apology for presenting Mike Pender's Searchers. Mike
was a founder member of the band. His magic 12-string guitar can be heard
on many great hits starting with 'Sweets For My
Sweet' and, not the least, the legendary 'Needles
And Pins'. One year before The Byrds
famous 12-string hit 'Mr. Tambourine Man'! Mike
was the lead singer on many big hits including 'Don't
Throw Your Love Away', 'When You Walk
In The Room' and, off course, 'Needles And
Pins'. Tonight we got many great versions of these songs, and many
more. Thanks Mike! Time for the Main Act...
GERRY & THE PACEMAKERS. One of the Beatle Week 2007 highlights! Gerry and the band presented all his classics with lots of humour. 'How Do You Do It', 'I Like It', 'Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying', 'You'll Never Walk Alone', 'Ferry Cross The Mersey'... The list is long. What an entertainer! We rush to the VIP Party at The Adelphi with THE OVERTURES...
THE OVERTURES. Their tenth time at Beatle Week! No wonder! With their magnificent repertoire of over 400 songs they are the finest 60's Tribute Band in the world! Tonight they performed their dynamic tribute to The Cavern Club's 50th Anniversary. Fantastic!
THE PRELLIES. This is
just raw-Raw-RAW Rock'n'Roll Hamburg Style! SEE THE AMAZING VIDEO! 'Shout' (8.8 MB)
ROCKS OFF. Here we are again! Standing right in front of the stage with our heroes! You're so beautiful!
