Casbah Coffe Club with Ulla, Tabbe and Peter |

CASBAH COFFE CLUB, 8 Hayman's Green, West Derby, Liverpool was opened by MONA BEST Saturday 29 August 1959 in the basement of her house. THE QUARRY MEN, then consisting of PAUL, JOHN, GEORGE and KEN BROWN on bass, played here on the opening night, and the following six Saturday nights. No drummer. "The rhythm's in the guitars", they said. After the Casbah gigs Ken Brown left the group. Mona Best was also the mother of PETE BEST, who joined the group, then called THE BEATLES, in August 1960. They played numerous gigs here at the Casbah until 24 June 1962.

Pete Best & Ken Brown |
Pete signs Bengt's CD |
Here I get The Pete
Best Band's CD signed by PETE BEST himself and KEN BROWN. And here is the
result:

"To Bengt - Pete Best - Ken
Brown"

Bengt, Pete Best and Bosse

Bosse and Tunel Do Tempo
TUNEL
DO TEMPO from
Brazil. A charming band, experts of The Beatles' earlier hits.

Kent, Dave Jones, Allan Williams, Bengt and Tabbe
KENT is our excellent video-producer of
course! DAVE
JONES is one of
Cavern City Tours' top men. And ALLAN WILLIAMS ("the man who gave the Beatles
away") was the Beatles' first manager. He took The Beatles
to their first trip to Hamburg 16 August 1960, together with
their new member PETE BEST on drums. TABBE is Trollhättan's Beatle fan No. 1.

A Hard Day's Night
A HARD DAY'S NIGHT (There are three bands with the same name!) This band came from Ohio, USA. Very good, and not the same as we saw last year. Do you recognize them ? Well, in 1968 they had a huge hit with 'Yummy Yummy Yummy' as THE OHIO EXPRESS!
And now, tonight's concert at THE ROYAL COURT
THEATRE.

Clube Big Beatles
The evening show was
opened by CLUBE
BIG BEATLES from
Brazil, who played an excellent acoustic set. This year they were
even better than last year!

Fab Faux
THE FAB
FAUX was the
sensation of this year! This band featured top New York
sessionmen, including John Cugar Mellencamp's guitarist ANDY
YORK, and WILL LEE on bass, who has worked with Paul
McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr among others. Their
version of 'Helter
Skelter' was a true knock-out!

Howie Casey and Gary Gibson
Lennon lookalike GARY GIBSON was in top form with a terrific band, including the Liverpool legend HOWIE CASEY on sax. Howie was a member of HOWEY CASEY AND THE SENIORS in the early sixties. He also played sax with PAUL McCARTNEY on the classical 'BAND ON THE RUN' album in 1973, and on the 'Wings Over America' tour.
